Wabi-sabi
The beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. In its purest essence, wabi-sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and embracing the natural cycle of growth and decay. It honors time — the passing of which leaves behind the beauty of itself during the process of returning to the basic elements from which we came.
I have been creating art as far back as I can remember. Growing up as a child in New York City I was, and still am, intrigued and stimulated by the constant shower of light and, steel and stone and the various stages deterioration and erosion. All the while seeing glimpses of new life beginning the evolutionary cycle again from within the cracks and crevasses of time.
As I travel through life watching each moment as it presents itself, I seek to capture my mind’s interpretation of this process. These compositions, the shapes, an exploration of forms as seen through this dancing lens, are often unexpected treasures, and simply the reflections of my wanderings. I see beauty in all of my surroundings. My hope as a photographer is that my images will make the viewer stop, take a breath, and have an experience that communicates something personal.
